"Sway Your Head" by We Shot The Moon

The song I chose for this week is "Sway Your Head" by We Shot The Moon. The band name, We Shot The Moon, also makes a reference to the card game, hearts, which is kind of where they got their band name from. We Shot The Moon started off in 2007. I love this song because of the lyrics and because it's really upbeat and fun. I think this song means that there will be times in life where you really want to give up. And there will be times where you think life sucks. I think the song says that when life gets hard you just have to hold your head up and live life. I also think it says that you have to remember all the good things in your life because there's way more good things in life than bad. And I also think it says that when you feel like giving up and never want to try again you won't succeed unless you throw yourself back into it again and try again. This is definately a good motivation song too!

Sway your head, move your feet, weigh yourself from the sleep
If there’s a day, there’s a way you can get yourself there
Golden smile, you got style that they can’t take away
Scream and shout, get it out before it swallows you
No surprise in these times, how it really comes through
All the walks and the thoughts but can you break through?
You’re alive, so alive, now c’mon

You gotta pull yourself back together
Give it one more shot, it’s now or never
With a new day calling for you, you gotta believe

Build a plan, yes you can, you got nothing to lose
Look around, up and down, what are you gonna choose?
Can you see the sunrise that came up for you?
You’re alive, so alive, now c’mon

You gotta pull yourself back together
Give it one more shot, it’s now or never
With a new day calling for you, you gotta believe
You gotta throw yourself back in the water
Take in one deep breath, you’re getting closer
After all, you’ve talked and seen
You gotta believe

I think it’s coming, I think it’s coming back
I think it’s coming back to me
I think it’s coming back, I think it’s coming back
I think it’s coming back to me

I feel I’m getting better
My world is getting better

You gotta pull yourself back together
Give it one more shot,  it’s now or never
With a new day calling for you, you gotta believe
You gotta throw yourself back in the water
Take in one deep breath, you’re getting closer
After all, you’ve talked and seen
You gotta believe

"Live This Life" by Big & Rich

The song I chose for this week is "Live This Life" by Big & Rich. Big & Rich are country music artists and have three albums: Horse of A Different Color, Comin' To Your City, and Between Raising Hell and Amazing Grace. Their first album came out in 2004. "Live This Life" is off of their first album, Horse of A Different Color. I love this song for it's lyrics because the lyrics relate to life; it definately has a strong meaning. My favorite line in the song is "I watched him heal a bling man, now I see." That says to me that someone could walk through life so blind and live the wrong way. Then they could find Jesus or God and finally see what life is all about. "I live this life until this life won't let me live here anymore" is really true because when I go(pass away), I know it's because it's God's time for me. It also tells me that life is short and when life won't let me live here anymore that I can't go back and change anything. My other favorite part of the song is "And he said, “I’m tired of this maddening life and I’m ready to go meet Jesus.”I said, “He’s a friend of mine, met him just last night and it’s alright, yeah.”" That says to me that no one's alone in life. Sometimes people need someone to tell them that and sometimes people need someone to introduce them to God.

Met a man on the street last night, said his name was Jesus
Met a man on the street last night
Thought he was crazy til I watched him heal a blind man
I watched him heal a blind man, now I see, yeah

I live this life until this life won’t let me live here anymore
Then I will walk, yes I will walk with patience through that open door
I have no fears, angels follow me wherever I may go
I live this life til this life won’t let me live here anymore

Met a girl in a chair with wheels but no one else would see her
Met a girl in a chair with wheels
Everyone was so afraid to even look down on her
And she just spread her little wings and flew away, yeah

I live this life until this life won’t let me live here anymore
Then I will walk, yes I will walk with patience through that open door
I have no fears, angels follow me wherever I may go
I live this life til this life won’t let me live here anymore

Met a kid on a bridge last night contemplating freedom
Met a kid on a bridge last night
And he said, “I’m tired of this maddening life and I’m ready to go meet Jesus.”
I said, “He’s a friend of mine, met him just last night and it’s alright, yeah.”

I live this life until this life won’t let me live here anymore
Then I will walk, yes I will walk with patience through that open door
I have no fears, angels follow me wherever I may go
I live this life until this life won’t let me live here anymore

Met a man on the street last night, said his name was Jesus
Met a man on the street last night

"Give Me Your Eyes" by Brandon Heath

The song I chose for this week is "Give Me Your Eyes" by Brandon Heath. Brandon Heath is a Christian music artist. He has two albums out, which are Don't Get Comfortable, released in 2006 and What If We, which was released in 2008. I like this song because when I think about the meaning, it makes me realize that even though life can be hard at times I have such an awesome life and that I'm extremely lucky. To me, the song means that the guy is going through life just like all of us but he doesn't see the people he walks past that have it bad in life. When he sees these people that are unfortunate, he doesn't actually see who they really are. So he asks God to help him see what's going on in the world. It also seems that maybe he experienced something bad and that it was an eye opener so he wants to see the other people that have it bad in life. And I think he's also asking God for faith and for help so he can help these people and help change these people's lifes.

Looked down from a broken sky, traced out by the city of lights
My world from a mile high, best seat in the house tonight
Touched down on the cold black top
Hold on for the sudden stop
Breathe in the familiar shock of confusion and chaos
All those people going somewhere, why have I never cared?

Give me your eyes for just one second
Give me your eyes so I can see everything that I keep missing
Give me your love for humanity
Give me your arms for the broken hearted, ones that are far beyond my reach
Give me your heart for the ones forgotten
Give me your eyes so I can see

Step out on a busy street
See a girl and our eyes meet, does her best to smile at me. To hide what’s underneath
There’s a man just to her right, black suit and a bright red tie
To ashamed to tell his wife, he’s out of work, he’s buying time
All those people going somewhere, why have I never cared?

Give me your eyes for just one second
Give me your eyes so I can see everything that I keep missing
Give me your love for humanity
Give me your arms for the broken hearted, the ones that are far beyond my reach
Give me your heart for the ones forgotten
Give me your eyes so I can see

I’ve been there a million times, a couple of million eyes
Just moving, past me by
I swear I never thought that I was wrong.
I want a second glance so give me a second chance to see the way you’ve seen the people all along.

Give me your eyes for just one second
Give me your eyes so I can see everything that I keep missing
Give me your love for humanity
Give me your arms for the broken hearted, the ones that are far beyond my reach
Give me your heart for the ones forgotten
Give me your eyes so I can see

"You'll Be There" by George Strait

The song I'm doing this week is 'You'll Be There' by George Strait. George Strait started his country music career in 1981. I like 'You'll Be There' because the lyrics are really meaningful to life. I think this song is about someone you love dying and then you finally start to realize what life is all about. One of my favorite lines in the song is 'you don't know where you're going til you know where you're at'-I think it means that life is short and before you know it, it could end tomorrow. I also think it means that you don't really know where you'll go in life but when you're in Heaven, you know you're in a better place.
When someone you love and are close to passes away, it makes you think about life. And I think this song kind of says that. Another line in the song is "I'll see you on the other side if I make it"-I think that means that someday you'll see the person that passed away and you were close to in Heaven and I think it also means that you have hope in life because you'll meet God someday. And one more line in the song is "You don't bring nothing with you here and you can't take nothing back; I ain't never seen a hearse with a luggage rack"- I think that means that when you're gone, everything you had on earth doesn't matter because your soul goes to Heaven and everything else gets left behind. I also think it means that you shouldn't take life for granted because life is short and before you know it, it will flash before your eyes.

Hope is an anchor and love is a ship
Time is the ocean and life is a trip
You don’t know where you’re going til you know where you’re at
And if you can’t read the stars, well, you better have a map
A compass and a conscious so you don’t get lost at sea
Or on some old lonely island where no one wants to be
From the beginning of creation I think our maker had a plan
For us to leave these shores and sail beyond the sand
And let the good light guide us through the waves and the wind
To the beaches in a world where we have never been
And we’ll climb up on the mountain ya’ll, we’ll let our voices ring
And those who’ve never tried it, they’ll be the first to sing

Oh my my, I’ll see you on the other side if I make it
And it might be a long, hard ride but I’m gonna take it
Sometimes it seems that I don’t have a prayer and let the weather take me anywhere
But I know that I wanna go where the streets are gold cuz you’ll be there, oh my my

Well, you don’t bring nothing with you here and you can’t take nothing back
I ain’t never seen a hearse with a luggage rack
So I’ve torn my knees up praying, scarred my back from falling down
Spent so much time flying high til I’m face first in the ground
So if you’re up there watching me, would you talk to God and say,
Tell Him I might need a hand to see you both someday

Oh my my, so I’ll see you on the other side if I make it
And it might be a long, hard ride but I wanna take it
Sometimes it seems that I don’t have a prayer, let the weather take me anywhere
But I know that I wanna go where the streets are gold cuz you’ll be there, oh my my
Cuz you’ll be there, oh my my
