"Hell To Pay" by The Jeff Healey Band

The song I chose for this week, "Hell To Pay", is by The Jeff Healey Band. Jeff Healey was a blind musician and he played the guitar. He started his music career in 1988. The song "Hell To Pay" is off his album Hell To Pay, which was released in 1990. I like this song for the lyrics because they make me realize that there's so much more to life. People complain about the smallest things in life and they don't realize that there are people who suffer more than them. There are people that don't have food or anything in life and would give anything to have what we have. The people that have nothing in life would give anything to have our small problems. One of my favorite lines in the song is "in a world full of misery, with hatred and greed, your problems are another man's dream". I think that means that if something bad happens that is temporary, the people who suffer everyday would trade places with you in a heartbeat. My other favorite line in the song is "just remember the world that you don't know about and all the lessons that you can learn". I think that means that when you're complaining about something in life to look around and look at what you have because you're extremely lucky. I also think it means to look at the people who don't have anything in life and to learn a lesson from it because they would give anything to have a little. I also like the line in the chorus that says "there's people in the world today who don't have nothing but hell to pay" because it's so true. There's people in the world that don't have anything and have to work hard for barely anything in return. I love this song because it's such an eye opener.

When you think you’ve got problems you don’t really need, they may  be not as bad as they seem
Cuz in a world full of misery, with  hatred and greed, your problems are another man’s dream
Now when your own little world seems to be in a state and you think you may be losing your mind
Just remember the people who only can wait for happiness they never will find

And you know, problems come and problems go, this is something you should know
There’s people in the world today who don’t have nothing but hell to pay

Now when your life and success has got you living in doubt and you’re feeling like there’s nowhere to turn
Just remember the world that you don’t know about and all the lessons that you can learn

Cuz you know, problems come and problems go, this is something you should know
There’s people in the world today who don’t have nothing but hell to pay

When you think you’ve got problems you don’t really need, they may be not as bad as they seem
Cuz in a world full of misery,  of hatred and greed, your problems are another man’s dream

And you know, problems come and problems go, this is something you should know
There’s people in the world today who don’t have nothing but hell to pay

"The Last Night" by Skillet

The song I chose to blog about this week is "The Last Night" by Skillet. "The Last Night" is off Skillet's Comatose album, which came out in 2006. I've been to four Skillet concerts and they've played this song everytime. John Cooper, the lead singer of Skillet, explains the song that a girl has a secret life of cutting for years and one night she decides she wants to end her life. John Cooper plays the role of God in the song and he has the opportunity to tell her that this is the last night she will ever be alone and she doesn't have to feel that way. I love this song because it's so true. There are a lot of people in the world that have no one in life and then they feel like no one cares about them. And a lot of people don't get along with their parents or their relationship is horrible with their parents and they feel like their parents don't love them. My favorite line in the song is: "The night is so long when everything's wrong; if you give me your hand I will help you hold on tonight. Tonight." I think that means that when you feel like you're stuck in a rut, time feels like forever and you don't think you're going to make it through it. But, if you hold on to God, He'll pull you through and you won't have to feel that way.

You come to me with scars on your wrist
You tell me this will be the last night feeling like this
I just came to say goodbye, didn’t want you to see me cry, I’m fine
But I know it’s a lie

This is the last night you’ll spend alone
Look me in the eyes so I know you know, I’m everywhere you want me to be
The last night you’ll spend alone
I’ll wrap you in my arms and I won’t let go, I’m everything you need me to be

Your parents say everything is your fault
But they don’t know you like I know you, they don’t know you at all
I’m so sick of when they say it’s just a phase, you’ll be okay, you’re fine
But I know it’s a lie

This is the last night you’ll spend alone
Look me in the eyes so I know you know, I’m everywhere you want me to be
The last night you’ll spend alone
I’ll wrap you in my arms and I won’t let go, I’m everything you need me to be

The night is so long when everything’s wrong
If you give me your hand I will help you hold on tonight, tonight

This is the last night you’ll spend alone
Look me in the eyes so I know you know, I’m everywhere you want me to be
The last night you’ll spend alone
I’ll wrap you in my arms and I won’t let go, I’m everything you need me to be

I won’t let you say goodbye and I’ll be your reason why
The last night away from me, away from me

"Broken" by Lifehouse

Lifehouse is a rock band that started in 2000. They have five albums and the song that I chose this week, "Broken", is off their fourth album, Who We Are. This is one of my favorite Lifehouse songs because of the meaning and the lyrics. I think this song means that you can go through a stage in life being broken or feeling really low, and maybe you feel like giving up completely on life. And after you fall apart and you can't get any lower, you pick yourself back up again and start all over. One of my favorite lines in the song is "in the pain there is healing". I think that means that through all the pain and hurt inside of you, there are still good things in life to look forward to. I also think that means that you'll always heal when you get hurt. I also think this song means that someone has been steered the wrong way in life and might've hurt other people and they find God. The line "I'm holding on, I'm barely holding on to you" means to me that someone can be breaking but through of the hard times they're still holding on to God for help. Another line in the song that I like is "I may have lost my way now, I haven't forgotten my way home". That means to me that someone could lose their way and forget what is right but they haven't forgot about God and knowing what'll come after their life is over(Heaven is home).

The broken clock is a comfort, it helps me sleep tonight
Maybe it can start tomorrow from stealing all my time
And I am here still waiting though I still have my doubts
I am damaged at best like you’ve already figured out

I’m falling apart, I’m barely breathing
With a broken heart that’s still beating
In the pain there is healing
In your name I find meaning so I’m holding on, I’m holding on
I’m holding on, I’m barely holding on to you

The broken locks were a warning
You got inside my head
I tried my best to be guarded, I’m an open book instead
And I still see your reflection inside of my eyes that are looking for purpose
They’re still looking for life

I’m falling apart, I’m barely breathing
With a broken heart that’s still beating
In the pain is there healing
In your name I find meaning so I’m holding on, I’m holding on
I’m holding on, I’m barely holding on to you

I’m hanging on another day just to see what you will throw my way
And I’m hanging on to the words you say, you said that I will be okay

The broken lights on the freeway left me here alone
I may have lost my way now, I haven’t forgotten my way home

I’m falling apart, I’m barely breathing
With a broken heart that’s still beating
In the pain there is healing
In your name I find meaning so I’m holding on, I’m holding on
I’m holding on, I’m barely holding on to you
