'Better Off Now' by Pillar

The song "Better Off Now" is by a Christian rock band called Pillar. Pillar has 6 albums out and "Better Off Now" is off their latest album Confessions. They released their first album in 1999. This song definately has a lot of meaning. I think it means that a person is stuck in a rut and feels really down in life. They were feeling low in life and weren't living right and then they found God. Which is probably the reason the song is called "Better Off Now". And when they found God and had Him in their life, they knew they were better off and life would be better with God in it.

All of this is changing, none of this is real
I’ll just keep on waiting to see if I can feel
Something like an angel watching over me
Maybe that’s exactly what’s in front of me

Cuz I’m better off now since you came around
You’ve gone and shown me everything I needed just to see that
I am better off now since you came around
All I had to do was see what I could be so I could know I’m better off now

I’ve wasted so much time now just to try and find
The answer  to the questions I tried so hard to hide
I never knew emotions could ever run this high
I was so far down I lost the will to try

But I’m better off now since you came around
You’ve gone and shown me everything I needed just to see that
I am better off now since you came around
All I had to do was see what I could be so I could know I’m better off now

Day after day I threw it all away
I’m never turning back that way again

Cuz I’m better off now since you came around
You’ve gone and shown me everything I needed just to see that
I am better off now since you came around
All I had to do was see what I could be so I could know I’m better off now

  1. I have never heard of Pillar. Having a bad life and finding God is a very common and heartwarming story to relate to.

  2. I like this song. my favorite part is when they sing about being better off since you came around. I know what they mean.

  3. This song has some clear repetition to it. It's obvious what the writers were trying emphasis - a single message instead of the story.
